How the Clean Energy Sector Rewrote Its Policy Playbook

ree

The clean energy sector suffered a tough blow between the rollbacks in the One Big Beautiful Bill and President Trump’s executive order to strictly interpret how tax credits can be used.  Despite these significant setbacks, we shouldn’t give up on the clean energy sector.

The clean energy tax credits, majorly expanded under the Inflation Reduction Act and now with strong champions on both sides of the aisle, stand out as an example of how to build long-term support for your issue.

At their core, these credits are not just about reducing emissions or driving innovation; they're about jobs, investment, and energy resilience across every state and district. These incentives have created economic opportunities that constituents can see and feel. That kind of local impact rewrites the politics of clean energy.

Lawmakers who may not agree on climate policy can still come together on American energy competitiveness, workforce development, and lowering energy bills for their constituents. We need more moves out of this playbook.

Because of the direct constituent impact, this is not an issue that will go away with the dismantling of the Inflation Reduction Act. Supporters across the country have made it clear that this is a bipartisan issue spanning industries that is here to stay.
