With a potential shutdown looming, there are a lot of questions surrounding the impact it will have on public lands and national parks. While there have been requests for DOI to access funding from the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA), it seems potentially unlikely that this will happen. Furthermore, the Wildland Fire Mitigation & Management Commission published their highly anticipated report with recommendations for Congress and the administration. The Inspector General of the Interior Department also released a report - theirs was on the ongoing maintenance backlog at the National Park Service. Furthermore, the Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee passed legislation that would enhance broadband service in national parks.
