Cyber Report | September 22nd, 2023

The main focus in DC this week was undoubtedly concerns surrounding a looming government shutdown and finding a solution to extend federal funding past the current expiration date of September 30th. Notably, during a House Homeland Security Cyber Subcommittee hearing this week, top industry executives stressed that a potential shutdown would be extremely disruptive and potentially dangerous to federal cybersecurity.


Furthermore, the DHS Cyber Incident Reporting Council published its report on regulatory harmonization, while the Cyberspace Solarium Commission released its third annual update on implementation of its 2020 recommendations. Additionally, the FCC extended the comment period on its proposed IoT labeling program by 11 days to allow industry more time to respond to the rule. Lastly, CISA posted an update on its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.
