There were several developments related to cybersecurity, privacy, and AI over the past several days. Earlier this week, House and Senate conferees have officially completed their conference for the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act - releasing a consensus version of the legislation with agreement on an array of key cybersecurity initiatives.
Furthermore, CISA released new guidance on memory-safe coding processes, while OMB published their latest guidance to federal agencies on what to expect for FY24 FISMA reporting requirements. Meanwhile, the NTIA published a request for comments related to the implementation of the National Spectrum Strategy, especially on how to better capitalize on emerging technologies. In addition, the SEC will convene next week to review recommendations on their proposal to address investor risks caused by conflicts of interest due to data analytics and artificial intelligence tools. Also this week, the bipartisan Federal Cybersecurity Workforce Expansion Act was introduced in the House.
