BG3: September 18th - 22nd

This week, Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) announced that he will not seek reelection in 2024 and he will retire at the end of this Congress. Furthermore, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) announced his plans to formally launch an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, although it remains unclear what this process will exactly look like.

Lastly, policymakers are continuing to discuss a path forward on FY 2024 spending, as current funding is set to expire on September 30th. These efforts are not progressing quickly and a solution has not yet been reached, which has led to growing concerns that the government will enter a shutdown.
