BG3: October 2nd - 6th

This week, most of the focus around Capitol Hill has been focused on the vote to remove Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) from his position as Speaker of the House and the resulting impacts of the decision. Financial Services Committee Chairman Patrick McHenry (R-NC) is the Interim Speaker, and the House is likely to vote next week on a permanent replacement. Thus far, Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) and Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) have announced their intent to run for the position, though other candidates may announce in the coming days.

Furthermore, Laphonza Butler was sworn in to serve as Democratic Senator from California, following the news of Senator Feinstein's passing. Lastly, the Department of Labor released September jobs data this morning with very positive news that the U.S. economy added 336,000 jobs last month.
