This week, past Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) announced this week that he will resign from Congress before the end of the year, while House Financial Services Committee Chairman Patrick McHenry (R-NC) announced he will not seek re-election in 2024. This move only further reduces the already narrow majority for Republicans.
Separately, Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) released most of his holds on Department of Defense nominees after a long standoff with the Administration and fellow Senators around the agency's abortion policies. Furthermore, Senate Republicans blocked a procedural vote on an emergency supplemental spending bill that includes funding for both Ukraine and Israel.
