This week, House Speaker Mike Johnson led a trip with 60 House Republicans to visit the southern border amid Senate negotiations to find bipartisan compromise on border legislation. Separately, Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO) announced that he would be retiring at the end of this Congress, creating another gap in leadership for the House Financial Services Committee. Furthermore, Representative Bill Johnson (R-OH) announced that he would leave Congress this month, further narrowing the Republican majority in the House to 219-213.
