The first tranche of spending bills expires on March 1 - three days after Members of Congress return to DC after this week's recess. This will set up next week to be critical in meeting the funding deadlines and determining the path ahead for the FY25 spending measures.
Furthermore, this week represented the two-year mark since Russia first attacked Ukraine, and President Biden used the milestone to announce 500 new sanctions against Russia. Lastly, today marks 300 days until the end of the 118th Congress on December 19th and there are a range of deadlines that will make up the bulk of lawmaker attention for the rest of the year.
